Elderly Woman Tied Up During Home Invasion, 3 Suspects Sought
ROSTRAVER (KDKA) – Police are looking for three suspects after an elderly woman was tied up and her neck broken during a home invasion in Westmoreland County.
German Street in Rostraver Township isn't as peaceful as it once was.
Residents are scared after three masked men forced their way into the woman's home around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday.
"They demanded money; she said she didn't have any," said Chief Greg Resetar, of Rostraver Township Police.
Roughed up by one assailant, authorities say she was then tied to her own bed. They kept asking her for the keys to her safe.
"She has a small dog," said Chief Resetar. "They picked up the dog; threatened to kill the dog."
Terrified, and with a broken neck from the alleged assault, she told the suspects where the key was. They stolen the contents, and then took off.
"Took her approximately 20 minutes to free herself," Chief Resetar said.
The suspects are described as two white males between 6-feet and 6-feet-2-inches tall, and one light-skinned African American male was 6-feet-2-inches tall as well and heavyset.
The woman is now in a Pittsburgh hospital recovering from surgery to repair her fractured vertebrae.
"They didn't have to do that to her, she's 91-years-old," said Diane Hesson, a neighbor and friend of the victim. "I mean, three guys, they were in masks."
Anyone with information is asked to call police at (724)-929-8811.
