Elderly Widow Shaken Up After McKeesport Home Invasion
McKEESPORT (KDKA) -- Police are looking for a suspect after a 90-year-old McKeesport widow, who lives alone, was robbed Monday morning by a man armed with a hammer.
The woman, who lives on Maple Street, did not want to be identified. She said there was a knock at her door around 9 a.m.
She told KDKA-TV that she answered the door, and there was a masked man outside. He was also wearing gloves. He pushed her back inside and demanded money.
She said, "He threatened me, saying if I didn't give him money, he was going to use a hammer [on me]."
The victim said the man quickly left and ran up the street. Because he was wearing a mask and gloves, she couldn't give police description.
She didn't even know if the suspect was white or black.
A neighbor, Yvonne Johnson, reacted to the crime saying: "When I see it, I said, 'oh my gosh, this is not happening.' I talk to her [the victim] all the time, and these things don't happen around here on Maple Street."
