Elderly, Disabled Woman Robbed Inside Fayette Co. Home

GEORGES TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Police are investigating after an elderly woman was robbed at gunpoint inside her Fayette County home late Thursday night.

According to police, the incident happened at a home on Walnut Hill Road in Georges Township around 11:30 p.m.

Two suspects entered the home through a window where an 89-year-old disabled woman was sleeping.

One of the suspects woke the woman up and demanded money and jewelry while pointing the gun at her.

Then, the suspects cut the phone lines and took the woman's Life Alert necklace so she could not call for help.

The suspects looked through the house for a period of time and fled the scene with the woman's purse.

"She was pretty scared," said State Police Tpr. James Garlick. "She was fast asleep, pretty much woke up to someone standing over top of her."

After the suspects left, the woman got into her wheelchair, but could not call for help due to the phone lines being cut.

She was later found by a home health care worker, who called 911.

Her neighbors along Walnut Hill Road are furious that the helpless woman was targeted. One man says he knows several people who've been robbed recently and says he wishes the robbers would've come after him instead.

"I got a lot of buddies that are waiting for this to happen to them because I'm gonna tell you when it happens there's gonna be bloodshed," said Joe Skocik. "I have no mercy doing this stuff to people. I work too hard for my money."

Anyone with information is asked to call Pennsylvania State Police at (724)-439-7111.
