Edmund Nelson: Steelers' Offensive Line Has Issues
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- KDKA-TV Steelers color analyst Edmund Nelson joined The Fan Morning Show on Friday with the team's third preseason game just a day away.
Nelson did not hold back when it came to talking about the Steelers' offensive line. He said that there are a lot of concerns surrounding that group, because it simply hasn't performed well.
Nelson pointed out that when your quarterback is on a five-step drop and already has guys in his face by the time he gets back to the pocket, he is not going to be able to get anything done, no matter who he is.
In the Steelers' first two preseason games, Nelson saw a lot of that pass rush coming up the middle, which means that Maurkice Pouncey hasn't been getting the job done at center.
Nelson said that this offensive line can't be successful if it's going to have moving parts and not play as a unit for 16 games. That being said, he isn't pleased with how this current assortment of linemen has performed.
Nelson will be broadcasting alongside Bob Pompeani for KDKA-TV's exclusive coverage of Saturday's Steelers vs. Chiefs preseason game, which begins at 7:30 p.m.
