Ed Bouchette On Steelers Running Game: Team Waiting For Someone To Take The Reins
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette joined Starkey, Miller and Mueller to preview the Steelers opener against the Tennessee Titans this weekend and what he's expecting to see from one of the biggest question marks this year, who will take hold of the starting running back position.
"I asked Todd Haley that today. He said, 'We're waiting for someone to take hold of it (the starting job).' I said, 'Can (Isaac) Redman do that Sunday, if he's doing well, will you keep him in there?' He said, 'Ya.' And I believe that. If Isaac gets off to a good start, doesn't fumble...then I don't think they'll put Felix Jones in the game much."
Another question for the Steelers is how Emmanuel Sanders will handle his new role playing outside and replacing Mike Wallace. Bouchette believes Sanders has the experience to pull the transition off without having much of a learning curve.
"I think he's been here long enough, he's played long enough that that should not be much of an adjustment for him at all. I think he's smart enough and good enough that he can play that position."
Bouchette also talks about the chances of the Steelers bringing back the recently released Max Starks, and how the offensive line will perform with their new zone blocking scheme.
