Ed Bouchette Not Expecting To See James Harrison On Offense Again
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette joined The Starkey and Mueller show for his weekly segment and talked about Mike Munchak's return to Tennessee, losing to bad teams, James Harrison on offense and the Mike Mitchell play at the end of the Jets game.
When it comes to offensive line coach Mike Munchak returning to face the Tennessee Titans where he was a Hall of Fame player, assistant coach and head coach Bouchette said he doesn't think Munchak holds a grudge against his old organization.
"He spent a long time in that organization," Bouchette said. "I don't know the bitterness. He was asked to make some coaching changes. He didn't want to do it and that's why they fired him."
Bouchette was also asked about the play in the fourth quarter against the Jets in which James Harrison was in an offense in a goal-line situation. Bouchette started by saying it was "ludicrous" and compared it to when the Patriots used Mike Vrabel in the past in similar situations.
"Mike Vrabel did it as a young man in New England, they didn't send a 36-year-old linebacker who had already retired and come back and has never lined up in the backfield in a game in his life and him in in that situation," he said.
Things wrapped up with Bouchette talking about Mike Mitchell's dive at the end of Sunday's loss to the Jets and Tomlin's reaction to it.
Bouchette thought that Tomlin made those comments at the end of the game "to show the other coaches around the league that Mike doesn't condone that stuff."
As for the play itself, Bouchette didn't seem to have a problem with it.
"I don't see it as ludicrous as maybe some others, there is a minute ten, they were only down by seven, I don't know maybe they can make something happen," Bouchette said. "Too much was made out of it."
