Eco-Friendly Diaper Service Opens Store Front
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Environmentally conscious moms and dads – or those who just like good, old-fashioned cloth diapers – will be excited about a new business in Pittsburgh.
Changin' Time Laundry Services celebrated its grand opening Saturday.
The business, located at 405 W. Eighth Avenue in Homestead, offers laundry services with either self-service machines or drop-off services for cloth diapers.
The use of cloth diapers has seen a resurgence in the last several years, as more parents have searched for environmentally friendly child products.
Co-owner Maria De La Cueva says she first got the idea for the business after her granddaughter was born and saw that her son's girlfriend was using cloth diapers.
Changin' Time was started in April out of De La Cueva's basement, with three other women.
"We knew that we wanted to expand," she said.
Saturday marks the grand opening of their first store front.
"It's been a really rewarding experience for me personally," De La Cueva said.
The business also offers pick-up an delivery services and sells baby products in the store.
Changin' Time says that it hopes to incorporate a passive graywater water treatment system, which recycles used water with the exception of sewage or garbage disposal water, in the new year.
