East Carolina Applies To Enter Big East
Pittsburgh (KDKA)- Pitt and Syracuse didn't want to be members of the Big East conference but East Carolina would love to join.
East Carolina has sent the Big East Conference a letter and has applied for membership.
Athletic director Terry Holland released a statement saying that the school "will maintain a proactive approach" in dealing with uncertainty about conference realignment.
East Carolina won the Conference USA title in 2008 and 2009 under Skip Holtz and was the only league school to rank in the top 50 nationally in average home attendance.
Earlier today, CBSSports.com reported that the Big East planned on trying to get Navy and Air Force to join as football only members.
