Dwyer: "Things Were Off" Last Season
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – The Fan's Andrew Fillipponi is joined by running back Jonathan Dwyer for the latest on his life, including the birth of his first child on Wednesday. Dwyer confirms that if that had happened on a game day, he would have missed the game.
Dwyer encourages the person behind the LaMarr Woodley comments to "man up" and take responsibility.
He agrees with teammates who said that "things were off" last season.
According to Dwyer, Coach Mike Tomlin has not addressed the team about the fractured locker room. Brothers had confrontations and debates, but there was nothing over the top that occurred behind closed doors.
"It's time for guys like myself to take advantage of opportunities to be leaders on and off the field," he said.
Injuries to the offensive line really messed up a lot in the run game like rhythm. Willie Colon was having a good year and his loss hurt.
Dwyer was motivated to be a better player by the doubts of others and his own realization that he could improve.
Dwyer's family is his team and he draws support from his wife and child.
He also says would be okay with the competition provided if the Steelers drafted a running back in the first round. According to Dwyer, the Steelers "want more" from him. He is a restricted free agent this off-season.
