Duquesne Light Prepares For Storm
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for much of the area and it's expected to bring a fair amount of ice with it.
The concern over power outages is heightened when ice is involved and Duquesne Light is prepared to deal with the situation.
According to a statement from the company, they are monitoring the weather situation carefully and are prepared to send out the Storm Team if needed.
Should power lines come down during the storm, Duquesne Light reminded customers to never touch them. All downed lines should be considered dangerous.
They also said to avoid objects that are in contact with the downed lines.
The company is advising people to prepare for the possibility of a power outage by having a readiness kit. Supplies to have in the kit include: bottled water, flashlights, first-aid kit, canned food and extra batteries.
The storm is expected to begin around 7 p.m. as snow and will slowly change to freezing rain around 3 a.m.
Up to a half-inch of ice may build up, which will impact the morning commute.
The freezing rain will change to all rain by Tuesday afternoon.
