Duquesne Dorms To Go Without Power Again Monday
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The three Duquesne University residence halls that lost power last week, displacing hundreds of students, will be without power again Monday.
In a letter sent to students Sunday, the university said the dorms St. Ann, St. Martin and Assumption Hall will be without power from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in order for the buildings to switch from generators to "regular electrical service."
Last Thursday, a power outage affecting the three halls displaced about 1,300 students, all of whom had to find a new place to stay Friday.
Some students were forced to sleep on cots in the school's Student Union building and Fitness Center.
In the email sent Sunday, school officials say the Hogan Dining Center in the Duquesne Towers will be open to students between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. during the power outage.
Additionally, they say wireless internet will be disrupted between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday.
