Duquesne Basketball Team Recalls Being Stranded On Turnpike For 24 Hours
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Duquesne University men's basketball team was in good spirits Sunday, which is surprising, considering they spent nearly 30 hours stuck on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

"We were about 80 miles from home and there's just a complete stop. We figure there's some traffic or an accident. Then about 21 hours later, we're still standing there," said Coach Jim Ferry.
The team bus was among about 500 cars and trucks stuck in the snow.
"We had no idea when we were going to move until we started moving," Ferry said.
How did they pass the time? For starters, they got creative.

"The guys were goofing around with each other, playing games, video games, making snow angels," said Ferry.
"The snow was pretty fluffy, so besides my socks, I was pretty dry," said player Nick Foschia.
They didn't just sit around. The guys got off the bus and helped others stuck on the turnpike. They made friends with a group of middle school kids who were also stuck for hours.
"We went over and introduced ourselves. They actually saw us on ESPN and realized we were on the sma road. So we introduced ourselves and hung out a little bit," said one player.
The team finally made it back late Saturday night, with one thing on their minds. Food.
Sunday, it was off to the weight room to get in shape and focus on their upcoming game on Tuesday. They say they're happy it's a home game, so they won't have to get on another bus.
