Driver's License Examiner Accused Of Passing Drivers For Money
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – If you want to get a driver's license, normally you go to the center, take the test, pass and get your license.
But in Fayette County, one license center employee was allegedly bypassing a few of those steps.
Investigators say the plan was simple: driver's license examiner Marvin Mills of Vanderbilt would take $100 to $700 from people who wanted to pass the driving test, but couldn't or just didn't want to learn how to drive properly.
According to State Police, Mills worked at the Uniontown Driver's License Center.
Police say in the time of his employment, he tested 346 drivers on his road test in nearly three years.
Here's how he did it: according to the criminal complaint, "Mills had the applicant park in the parking lot of the PennDOT building directly next door to the drivers exam center and then drive directly back to the divers license center with no other road skills or route taken."
Police say this was repeated time and time again.
According to the criminal complaint, "Mills was observed to be manipulating the schedule and disobeying orders from supervisors to place himself in a position that he would always be the examiner who tested these foreign applicants."
