Drivers Face More Road Construction In October
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Now that October is here, it's going to be even more challenging to navigate your way through town.
On the list of projects is Boulevard of the Allies.
"Friday night we're going to implement a long term closure for about one month of the ramp from the Boulevard of the Allies to the Liberty Bridge," PennDOT District 11 spokesman Jim Struzzi said.
That starts Friday night and continues until early November.
Now with the Grant Street ramp to the Parkway East closed through this weekend, that means a lot of traffic going up the ramp, but that's not all.
"We're going to have two weekend closurse of the ramp from Boulevard of the Allies to northbound I-579 Crosstown Boulevard and the Veterans Bridge," he said.
Which means this coming weekend and next weekend, access to the Crosstown will be shutoff.
"We want to minimize the impacts on events that are occurring downtown and as we get into the fall that becomes very difficult, and the Pirates season will be wrapping up, but now you've got Steelers and you've got Pitt, there's a lot of events that occur downtown throughout the fall," Struzzi said.
For at least two weekends in October, the Squirrel Hill Tunnel inbound will be closed.
