Officers Allegedly Also Shot Wrong Car During Police Chase
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police have arrested the man who led police on a high-speed chase through the South Side, which ended with police shots.
The driver, whose mother was also riding in the car, was identified by authorities Tuesday at 32-year-old Donald Burris of Carnegie.
At 10 a.m. police arrested Burris upon his release from UPMC Mercy Hospital, where he was being treated for multiple gunshot wounds he suffered when he and his mother were hit by police shots.
Burris and his mother, 49-year-old Lena Davenport, were shot at by five officers, four of which were off-duty at the time, and were not carrying any drugs or weapons in the car.

Police say, though, that Burris had an outstanding warrant for a traffic violation in Georgia.
Meanwhile, KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin has learned that one of the police officers who responded to the police chase and shooting ended up firing on a car driven by an innocent jitney driver who was not involved in the chase. The car that police were chasing, actually crashed into the jitney driver and he was caught in the crossfire.
Two bullets hit the wrong car while the jitney driver says he was cowering on the floor of the vehicle. A passenger in that car will be talking to Marty and we will have the interview tonight on KDKA News @ 11.
The Allegheny County District Attorney's Office, Pittsburgh Police Department's Internal Affairs Division and the Citizens Police Review Board are conducting investigations into the Bureau of Police.
Burris is charged with one count of fleeing or attempting to elude police officers and seven counts each of aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.
He was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
