Dr. Jill Biden Makes Campaign Stop In Strip District
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - With shouts of "Four more years, four more years," about 300 local women turned out to hear America's Second Lady - Dr. Jill Biden - encourage Pennsylvania women to back the Obama-Biden ticket as the best bet for women in 2012.
"There is so much at stake in this election. For women of my generation, one thing is for sure, we know we can't go back and re-fight battles we fought decades ago," Dr. Biden told the crowd.
And she embraced the protections of Obamacare for women.
"Now, insurance companies will no longer be able to charge us more for coverage than they charge for men," Dr. Biden said. "And they have to cover basic preventive health care like contraception, mammograms and pre-natal care with no co-pay."
Dr. Biden is the first Vice President's wife to work outside the White House, so KDKA-TV Political Editor Jon Delano asked her about that when they met in an exclusive one-on-one interview Sunday afternoon.
"Teaching has always been my passion," she said. "I teach English. To this day, I teach full-time. So, I'm out here campaigning, but in my spare time, I'm grading papers like I was last night."

Dr. Biden was asked about her comment that the election of Mitt Romney would really be a turning back for women.
"I do feel that it would be turning back. Barack and Joe and this administration have done so much to move women forward, and that's in health care, in women's pay, putting women on the court and in Cabinet positions. And I really think we can't go back to what we had decades and years ago," Dr. Biden said.
With just 50 days to go to the Nov. 6 election, visits like this from Dr. Biden are designed to create the enthusiasm to get every Obama voter out to the polls.
Make no mistake, the Romney campaign is doing the same thing for their candidate, too.
