By: KDKA-TV News Staff

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A bank robbery suspect who police said took the bus to get away has been arrested.

The robbery happened at the First National Bank downtown just before 9:30 a.m. on Fourth Avenue and Wood Street, emergency officials said.

Police said the robber indicated he had a gun and demanded money, but no one saw a gun.

The bank was temporarily closed for the investigation. Police swarmed the building, speaking to workers and collecting evidence, but the suspect managed to get away before they arrived.

It's not yet clear how much money the robber stole.

Police said he caught a bus after the robbery and was arrested in the Middletown area.

Meanwhile, some customers who tried to enter the bank immediately after the robbery were frustrated when they were turned away.

"The door was locked and I needed to get some deposits and some change for my pizza shop down the street, and I'm stuck. Now I have to go to another bank. It's very cold, so I'm not happy about this," Behrooz Rahimzadeh, the owner of Mama Lucia Pizza, said.

Police said the investigation is "developing" and charges are pending.
