Dog Getting Medical Care After Being Injured In Hit & Run In Troy Hill
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Western Pa. Humane Society is asking for help from the public to find the owner of a dog that was struck by a vehicle Friday morning in a hit and run accident in the city.
According to the Humane Society, the female pit bull is a young dog, between 12- to 14-months-old, and had on a lime green Martingale collar.
The incident happened in the Troy Hill neighborhood.
A Good Samaritan saw the whole thing happen and then rushed the dog to the Humane Society for treatment.
The Humane Society says the witness described the SUV that hit the dog as being tan in color.
"From all reports she seems to be a very nice dog and looks like she is well cared for," Joy Braunstein, the executive director of the Western Pa. Humane Society, said in a press release. "We are hoping that someone out there loves her and comes forward to claim her. We are reaching out not only to find her owner, but to help fund her emergency care and immediate needs."

The dog has been taken to the Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center. Officials say she will need surgery next week.
