Does It Really Do That: Perfect Brownie Pan
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Perfect Brownie Pan promises perfectly cut brownies every time.
The infomercial says the pan is the new non-stick way to bake, slice and serve brownies" because of the durable non-stick coating. But does it really do that?
KDKA's Consumer Editor Yvonne Zanos and Jean Thomas, a mom of two from Mount Lebanon, put the Perfect Brownie Pan to the test.
"The worst thing about making brownies is getting that first piece out," says Thomas.
For $19.99, the product comes with a bottomless pan, the bottom of the pan, a divider and a rack.
For the first step, spray all four pieces of the Perfect Brownie Pan with non-stick cooking spray.
Pouring in your favorite brownie recipe is step two. And for step three, put the divider in the pan and bake.
After cooling the brownies, carefully remove the divider and place the brownie pan on the cooling rack.
Then, press down on the divider and the brownies are cut.
Thomas says she likes the results.
"I think it ... definitely does what it says it's supposed to do," she says. "I don't know if I'd purchase it; but for someone who has issues with brownies not coming out straight, I think it does the job."
But the Perfect Brownie Pan isn't just for brownies; it promises to make Rice Krispies treats easy to handle too.
Thomas cuts down the mess with a good idea of her own. She flattens out her Rice Krispies, uses her divider and has some of the best looking Rice Krispies treats she's seen in quite a while.
"Everything comes out real nice and uniform," she says.
