Does It Really Do That: Neckline Slimmer
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Have you seen the Neckline Slimmer infomercial?
The creator said when you use his product you can see the muscles working and feel a difference right away.
It takes just two minutes a day and he guarantees it.
That sounds good to a lot of people, including Cathy Dolhi, and Jean Joseph.
They agreed to be our testers for the latest "Does It Really Do That?" segment.
The Neckline Slimmer looks, and works like a spring loaded toilet paper holder. Cathy and Jean were excited to test the product because it seemed easy to use, and they loved the dramatic positive results shown on the commercial.
"Some of those ladies looked 10 years younger, so, I hope it works," Joseph said.
Again, those dramatic results are guaranteed, in as little as two weeks. The Neckline Slimmer is said to work with resistance doing for the jaw and neck area what resistance training does for your body, tightening, toning, and giving dramatic lift.
KDKA's Jennifer Antkowiak met with Cathy and Jean at Danza Fitness Club in McKeesport, where they're used to getting a workout.
They were a little skeptical, but eager to try these new exercises for their necks.
"It makes sense. If you use a weight for your arm, your arm will get tighter. Hopefully, if you use this for your neck, your neck will get tighter," Dolhi said.
Antkowiak went through the Neckline Slimmer kit with them, which includes the unit, three springs with varying levels of resistance, an instructional DVD, Neckline Slimmer Accelerator Cream, and a carrying bag.
Cathy and Jean positioned the Neckline Slimmer under their chins, and did their workouts by moving their heads in a nodding motion against the resistance of the device. Another version had them keeping their heads steady, and opening and closing their mouths to work the unit.
Following the product instructions, Cathy and Jean did the Neckline Slimmer exercises at least once a day, but most often, twice a day, which the directions say would accelerate the results.
The ladies also faithfully used their neck cream.
Antkowiak met them again after six weeks, and there were no dramatic changes.
The ladies said their neck areas, "maybe felt a little tighter." However, both did say their skin felt smoother from the neck cream.
But, neither woman reported seeing or feeling any big differences. Their before and after pictures are nowhere near as dramatic as the ones shown on the Neckline Slimmer infomercial.
"I think it feels a little tighter, and I think my skin feels smoother," Joseph said.
"I don't really see a difference, I do think it might be smoother, but I think that might be the result of the cream that came with this," Dolhi said.
Our testers said the Neckline Slimmer was easy to operate, and the recommended exercises could easily be completed within two minutes a day.
But, although the time investment was minimal Cathy and Jean say, so were the results.
The Neckline Slimmer promises firmer, younger-looking, smoother skin in as little as two weeks.
Does it really do that?
Our testers say, no. Two thumbs down.
