Dodgers Beat Pirates 6-1
LOS ANGELES (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Pirates fell behind early and were unable to fight their way back against the Los Angeles Dodgers Saturday night.
James Loney's three-run home run in the first inning provided all the offense the Dodgers would need en route to a 6-1 win.
The Pirates were able to cut into the early lead in the second inning. Josh Harrison's RBI double to left field scored the only run of the game for the Pirates.
Ted Lilly scattered four hits over seven innings while allowing only one run. He also struck out seven and walked two.
In the third inning, the Dodgers added two more insurance runs with one swing of the bat.
Juan Rivera hammered an offering from James McDonald (9-9) over the left field wall to extend the lead to 5-1.
McDonald's outing was short-lived as he allowed five runs on seven hits in just three innings of work. He also walked two and struck out three.
No player on the Pirates had more than one hit in the game.
The Pirates will look to earn a split of the four-game series Sunday at 4:10 p.m.
Brad Lincoln (1-2, 3.73 ERA) is scheduled to take on Chad Billingsley (10-10 4.30 ERA).
