DEP Announces Air Quality Action Day
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Department of Environmental Protection declared a code orange Air Quality Action day for Wednesday in the Pittsburgh area.
This includes Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Washington and Westmoreland Counties.
Officials say an orange level indicates unhealthy pollution levels for sensitive people like children, the elderly and people with respiratory problems.
People who fall into those categories should limit outdoor activities.
The DEP urges the public to do their part to reduce pollution like using mass transportation or carpooling instead of driving to work, washing only full loads of clothes and dishes and turning off unused lights at home.
