Hill District Shooting Leaves 1 Man Dead
HILL DISTRICT (KDKA)-Pittsburgh Police are looking into a shooting that left one man dead in the Hill District.
According to police, the shooting happened at 10:10 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Junilla Street and Webster Avenue.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 23-year-old Andre Roberts, of the Hill District.
He was pronounced dead at 11:23 p.m. at UPMC Mercy Hospital.
Roberts and a friend drove to the area. When they arrived, two males got into the back seat.
According to police, the man seated behind the driver pulled out a gun and said something to the effect of "you know what we want."
Police said once the gun was pulled and the threat was made, the friend of the victim - in the front passenger seat - got out and ran.
The friend told police, four or five shots were heard.
Roberts leaves behind a wife and two small children.
"I want whoever did this or whoever knows anything to come forward please. That's all I'm asking. I don't hate you. I'm [going to] pray for you," said Marissa Roberts.
Marissa said she married Andre in March. The couple have been together for several years and have a 4-year-old son, Andre Jr.
"I don't know what to tell his son. His son cherished him," she said while holding a picture of her and her husband.
Marissa Roberts says her husband was never in trouble and was working at South Point Energy. She described him as a family man and a devoted husband and father.
"What person in their right mind would take a good man - he was a good man - away from his family?" she said.
So far, there are no arrests in the case.
