Darlene Harris Talks Mayoral Race, North Side Improvements
PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - City Council President Darlene Harris, who represents the first council district in the North Side of Pittsburgh, spoke with KDKA's Rob Pratte about her political party switch, and her plans for her district.
When asked whether she will run for the mayor of Pittsburgh, Harris said, "I am keeping my options open," and she has no idea when she will make her decision.
Harris just recently switched her party registration from Democrat to Independent. She said that it was not an easy transition, but had to be done.
As for the North Side of Pittsburgh, Harris explained that several improvements are in store. She said they are working on the Davis Avenue Bridge, picking up dilapidated homes and selling them, and also fixing the streets of Brightwood.
She believes the North Side gets a bad reputation because the media refers to all of the neighborhoods as the North Side, instead of highlighting the individual places that make up the area.
Tune in to Rob Pratte Saturday and Sunday mornings from 5AM-1PM on NewsRadio 1020 KDKA.
