Dan Bylsma: Fine Line Between Too Little & Too Much Emotion
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Penguins coach Dan Bylsma joined "The Fan Morning Show" on Tuesday to preview the Penguins/Blue Jackets first round series.
Here is some of what he had to say:
On the Blue Jackets potentially trying to push his stars' buttons by trash talking like the Flyers did two years ago:
"I think we've already seen that talk from Columbus, taking a page out of the Flyers' book, and that seems to be how to beat the Penguins. I think the interesting part is a couple years ago, we had the meltdown against the Flyers in that series like no other. We went into that series, the first two games, and felt like after two games we weren't emotional enough, we didn't get involved enough in the two games in our building. It's a fine line."
On Marc-Andre Fleury:
"He's developed, I think, a much calmer style in net. His technique is better around areas of the net. He's going to get tested here in the playoffs. You know that. You talk about getting under the skin of Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby and the big guys. The word is getting pucks in the paint, being in the paint, being there on Marc-Andre Fleury, that's going to be something that's not just a one-game-and-done-here thing."
On Kris Letang looking great upon returning from his stroke:
"We've seen it a couple times from Kris in the last couple years coming back from injury and some extended injuries. It's different than pretty much any other player out there. He has unique power, unique skating, so he's been able to get out on the ice. You see that immediately. I think it was important for Kris to play three games. He was good in game one - there were things he needed to get better at… he's, I think, been able to do that."
