D.A.: Westmoreland Co. Mother & Son Were Beaten To Death
ARNOLD, Pa. (KDKA) – An autopsy has revealed that the mother and son found dead inside a house in Arnold last week were beaten to death.
Authorities are not releasing any details from the autopsy and Westmoreland County District Attorney John Peck said he could not elaborate.
Police found the bodies of 46-year-old Bonnie Lee Broadwater and 22-year-old Lance Holt in their Third Avenue home, after they had been dead for several days.
They died of blunt force trauma.
"We've never really slowed down since the discovery of our two victims," Arnold Police Chief William Weber said. "We'll continue on. Hopefully our forensics stuff and our interviews get us to a conclusion."
Neighbors say the mother and son kept to themselves.
One neighbor did not want to be identified, but said she knew Holt.
"I can't think of nothing he could have did to anybody for that to happen, nothing," said the neighbor. "That's ridiculous."
Police say the door was locked, the pets were still inside the house and there were no drugs or sign that anything was stolen from the house.
The motive is still unclear, but police think the victims knew their killer.
"It's probably a closed incident, so to speak," Weber said, "that it's not a random incident. It's not something that the public should be totally panicked about."
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward, no matter how minor the detail.
