Crosby To Play Against Rangers On Thursday

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The announcement many Pittsburgh Penguins fans have been anticipating for a couple of weeks was made on Tuesday.

Sidney Crosby will return to the lineup Thursday night on the road against the New York Rangers. According to the Penguins' official website, Crosby is expected to skate on a line with Matt Cooke and Tyler Kennedy.

Head coach Dan Bylsma said this would be a way of limiting his minutes to ease him back into action.

During practice on Tuesday, Crosby was manning the point on the top power play unit as well.

Crosby has been out of the lineup dealing with concussion-like symptoms since Dec. 5. He has been ramping up workouts on the ice and was cleared for contact last week.

This will be the second time Crosby has come back from an injury this season. Back on Nov. 21, Crosby made his season debut against the New York Islanders after missing about 11 months of action with a concussion.

Crosby scored on his first shot of the game and finished the night with four points.

There was some speculation that Crosby would play this past Sunday against the Boston Bruins. However, Crosby said he wanted more time in practice before making a return to the lineup.
