Crime Stoppers Seeks Suspect In Wilkinsburg Dollar General Robbery

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) -- Police are searching for a man who held up a local Dollar General.

Lamont Harvey, 28, is accused of robbing the Wilkinsburg Dollar General store in the 1700-block of Laketon Road on June 1.

"The patrol units arrived there and were met by two victims who were accosted by an armed gunman who apparently hid in the back of the store after closing, came out and accosted the two employees into a back office where he robbed them of approximately $3,000 of the store receipts," said Det. Richard Grande, of Wilkinsburg Police.

Police tell KDKA that Harvey should be considered armed and dangerous.

They said after the robbery, before exiting the store, he tried to destroy the recording device of the surveillance system, but was unsuccessful.

Photos, retrieved from the broken hard drive, helped investigators identify Harvey.

"In the security video, he's seen carrying what appears to be a hooded jersey; and when he came out from where he was hiding, he came out with his hood up," said Det. Grande.

From the surveillance photos and the mug shot, the suspect is seen with his hair in dreadlocks.

But in another other police photo, he has a completely different look with his hair tightly pulled back.

"We have three separate addresses from where we checked his identification - there's a Wilkinsburg address, a Braddock Hills address and a Turtle Creek address," Det. Grande said.

If you know something about this case, call Pittsburgh Crime Stoppers at 412-255-8477.

Information leading to an arrest and conviction could be worth up to $1,000. Callers can remain anonymous.
