Crime Stoppers Reward Offered In Fatal Duquesne Shooting
DUQUESNE (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Crime Stoppers has put up a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in the weekend shooting of 16-year-old Daniel Peek of Duquesne.
Peek was hit by gunfire in his family's apartment where they were having a get together.
"I held my son for the last time, he died in my arms and that's what hurts me the most, I couldn't save my son, I couldn't save him," Charlene Peek told KDKA-TV.
Peek said her 16-year old son was disabled.
"He wanted a friend, he wanted somebody to accept him for [being] him."
Peek was hit by bullets as they went through an apartment door at the Hilltop Parkview Manor complex.
Another one of Charlene's sons, and two others, were wounded in the same barrage of gunfire from as many as three gunmen who were in the hallway of the building.
"The people who were actually shot had nothing to do with what occurred and once again were truly innocent bystanders in this case," Allegheny County Police Detective Robert Opferman said.
