Crime Stoppers: Investigators Release Description Of Gunman In 11-Year-Old Boy's Fatal Shooting
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Funeral services are scheduled for this Saturday for the 11-year-old boy who was fatally shot in his home in Mount Oliver earlier this month.
David McIntyre was a sixth grader at the Pittsburgh Classical Academy. He died in his Hays Avenue home on Nov. 1.
McIntyre's older brother, who was also home at the time, was shot and wounded. He continues to recover from his wounds.
Detectives still have no motive or suspects.
But now there is new information on the gunman's description.
Allegheny County Police Detective Robert Opferman said the suspect was white, in his 30s or 40s, and is approximately 6-feet tall.
"The suspect entered through the front door of the home, which we found to be unlocked, and he opened fire on both boys as they were in the living room of the house," Opferman said.
Pittsburgh Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. The Crime Stoppers number is 412-255-8477.
Amanda McKnight, the boy's mother, told a press conference just days after the shooting, "Whoever this coward is, whatever your reason is, I need closure, my family needs closure. How could you walk into someone's home, not say a word, and shoot a child?"
