Crews Clean Home Where Explosive Materials Were Found In Pine Twp.

PINE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- The house in Pine Township where police say they found drugs and explosive materials last weekend was cleaned and sanitized Friday morning.

Firefighters, Hazmat crews and police arrived at the Condor Lane home in Treesdale shortly after 8 a.m.

They were there to remove any and all possible explosive or dangerous substances from the residence.

A special explosion-proof bomb box was also brought into handle and transport any substances deemed a threat. Hazmat workers could be seen in full protective gear taking various containers out of the home.

Last Saturday, police say they were called to an alleged underage drinking party at the house.

That's when investigators say marijuana, an illegal hallucinogenic mushroom growing operation and explosive materials were discovered inside.

Police then called in fire crews, Hazmat teams, the bomb squad, canine units and ATF officials to investigate. Authorities were in the home for most of the day on Saturday.

Since then, the home – which is owned by 52-year-old Theresa Gaugler - has been off limits, but family members escorted police in the home and stayed there today during the removal process.

Earlier this week, Gaugler and her family were allowed back into the home to gather some of their belongings.

Exactly what substances were removed has not been released. However, sources tell KDKA the chemicals were determined to be no threat to those living nearby.

Northern Regional Police were set to address the media this afternoon. After about four hours, the cleanup operation was beginning to wrap up around noon.

Once the home is completely cleared, the family will be allowed to return to the home.

The investigation is ongoing, and charges are expected to be filed in the case.
