Crash Claims Life Of Local Teen, Leaves Another In Coma

DONEGAL TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- One teen is dead and another is fighting for his life after a crash in Westmoreland County.

The teens were both sophomores in the Connellsville School District in Fayette County.

Authorities say Nick Habina, 18, and his friend Jesse Eutsey were going to buy a battery so they could take their ATV out for a ride when they lost control on Thompson Road in Donegal Township.

According to police, they were not wearing seatbelts and traveling at a high rate of speed. Both boys were ejected from their car.

Habina was pronounced dead at the scene. Eutsey was rushed to the hospital.

Friends visiting the scene today say Eutsey remains in a coma. They will remember Habina for his fun-loving personality.

Teachers in the Connellsville School District say Habina was a fun person to be around. They say the halls at the high school are somber today in his absence.

District administrators say grief counselors are on hand. The district is scheduled to begin its summer break in just two days.

An autopsy for Habina was planned for this afternoon. Funeral arrangements are not yet final.
