Craig Adams: 'We Have Grown Accustomed To Injuries'
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Pittsburgh Penguins forward Craig Adams joined "The Cook and Poni Show" on Tuesday following the morning skate.
The latest news with the club is that Evgeni Malkin will be out the next 2-3 weeks with a foot injury.
"I didn't know until this morning," Adams said. "It's not ideal, but we have grown accustomed to deal with injuries to key guys. We will move on and hope to get him back in time for the playoffs."
Adams admits it gets frustrating to keep having these injuries to star players, but nobody is going to feel sorry for them.
"It's tough mentally, but we are not going to feel sorry for ourselves," Adams said. "I got to be honest with you, I don't know much about his injury and if I did, I could not talk about it. We just hope we get him back for the playoffs. We would take that at this point."
Adams also told Cook and Poni that it makes no difference to him if the media considers the Pens the Stanley Cup favorites or not. He says they have dealt with being the favorites for the past few seasons and it's not added pressure. He says when you play for the Pens, you know you have a chance.
"Nothing said matters. It's about what happens on the ice," Adams said. "Guys put pressure on themselves to win."
Adams expects that he may see time at c0nter tonight with Malkin and Joe Vitale both out of the lineup.
