Craig Adams: Fleury, Team Will Be Judged By Playoff Performance

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Pittsburgh Penguins forward Craig Adams joined Ron Cook on The Cook and Poni show Tuesday for his regular weekly segment, "Off the Ice."

Adams talked to Ron about an impressive 2-1 OT win that included a great save by Marc-Andre Fleury.

Adams says they had just watched Erik Karlsson score from that same position on video earlier that day.

"I was like, 'Oh no,' when I saw him there, but Flower made an unbelievable save," Adams said.

Adams says that the expectations are always so high for this team. So, Fleury, much like the team, will ultimately be judged by what happens in the spring.

"We have the utmost confidence in him," Adams said. "He has been outstanding for us."

Adams said people can't forget about what he has done in the playoffs in the past for this team. He said it's also hard to just write off what he has done in the regular season.

"His body of work speaks for itself," Adams said. "There is nobody else we would rather have."

Adams says this team is always expected to be in the mix for a Stanley Cup and when they don't live up to those expectations, it's considered a missed opportunity. But, the thing that keeps you going and to move forward, is that chance for another opportunity the following year.

Adams tells Ron that they have missed Kris Letang in the lineup and they will be without him again tomorrow night in Buffalo.

"He is a special player," Adams said. "You get a guy like that, you want to hold on to him. So, we hope he gets healthy soon."
