Cowher Being Honored For Coaching And Broadcasting Career
PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - Super Bowl champion coach Bill Cowher is being honored at an event at Heinz Field next week. The annual St. Jude Champions for Hope is Friday, June 26 in the Great Hall.
The former Steelers head coach will be receiving the honor for his work as a coach and as a broadcaster on "The NFL Today" on CBS. Franco Harris will present the award to Cowher.
Cowher joined "The KDKA Morning News" to talk about the event about the event and of course, football.
He says he is proud of Harris for still giving back to the community.
"He embodies what former Pittsburgh Steelers are all about, you know, him and Andy Russell, guys like that, who just never left the town, and still stayed within the community," says Cowher.
Cowher was asked about the NFL moving back the extra-point kick and Ben Roethlisberger saying the changes will have an effect over time in tough weather cities. He said he agrees with Roethlisberger, but says he thinks something else should have changed.
"I for one always thought that narrowing the goal posts would have been a much easier solution if you want to make that element of the game a little bit more difficult," says Cowher.
Cowher is a NFL analyst for CBS' "The NFL Today" and has been for the past eight years. So, does Cowher ever plan on coaching again?
"I never say never, but I am in a good place right now [with CBS]," says Cowher.
