Couple Sentenced In 15-Month-Old's Death
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The parents of a Fayette County toddler who died of malnutrition were sentenced Thursday in court.
The judge sentenced both Robert Dodson, 57, and Tammy Jo Bohon, 37, to four-and-a-half to nine years in prison.
Dodson and Bohon pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter after their 15-month-old daughter starved to death.
Dodson told police that he noticed 15-month-old Madison's feeding tube had come out back in January of 2011, so he rigged it in a way he thought would work before going to bed. When he woke up, the girl was no longer breathing and he called 911.
But after a hearing in May, Dodson's older daughter said her father was innocent, saying he took care of all of his children.
Following the girl's death, the couple's other children were put in the care of Children and Youth Services. They are now in foster care.
Police say the family was living in deplorable conditions with trash and feces strewn throughout the house.
Dodson will remain in the Fayette County Jail until a dependency hearing next month.
Both Dodson and Bohon will serve their sentences in a state prison.
