Couple Dead Of Suspected Overdoses In McKeesport, 3 Kids Hospitalized
MCKEESPORT (KDKA) -- Three children were hospitalized Monday evening after a couple was found dead from suspected drug overdoses inside an apartment in McKeesport.
While conducting a welfare check, police and paramedics found 26-year-old Christopher Dilly and 25-year-old Jessica Lally dead on the first floor of a home in the 900 block of Evans Avenue.
The children did not appear injured, but not knowing how long they were without adult supervision, first responders took the youngsters to UPMC Children's Hospital to be evaluated.
Authorities were alerted earlier on Monday when a 7-year-old girl who lived in the house with her 9-month-old sister, and two brothers, ages 3 and 5, had told school officials she was worried about her parents.
Lisa Washington's Report:
Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman said, "There's no reason to suspect there's any foul play involved in the adults' deaths in the home. Obviously, the possibility that this is a drug overdose is something we are leaning towards."
Police said when they arrived; the four children were in other areas of the apartment, and not in the living room, where the couple was discovered.
Lt. Schurman said, "The early indications are they may have been dead for a day or two."
Also, on Monday, a 50-year-old man was found dead in an apartment only four blocks down the street from where the couple was found. Investigators say he died from a suspected heroin overdose.
Concerned neighbors, watching the police activity, gathered across the street from where the couple was found.
"Overall, this neighborhood isn't safe," Jordan McCallister said. "That's why, especially after today, I'm moving, I can't take it anymore."
Another man, who didn't want to be identified, said, "It makes no sense to me at all. Going to hell in a handbasket, my friend, and I don't know why."
