Couple Accused Of Abuse Waive Case To Trial
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A local couple, accused of abusing their adopted children, went before a judge on Thursday.
Doug and Kristin Barbour adopted two children from Ethiopia, a 6-year-old boy and a little girl.
But according to the complaint, inside the couple's Franklin Park home, the children were abused and assaulted.
Investigators say the boy reported that he was once thrown to the ground, hitting his head, and punished by standing in a dark bathroom.
On Thursday, the Barbours were supposed to answer the charges in court.
Instead though, they arrived without comment, signed some paperwork and then waived the entire matter straight to trial after two additional charges of aggravated assault were dropped.
