Cotsonika: Lots Of Potential Reasons For Crosby's Struggles
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan) -- Nick Cotsonika of Yahoo Sports talked about the Pens with Bob Pompeani.
Cotsonika was asked if there's anything to the notion that Sidney Crosby's wrist injury from last season is lingering.
"It's a question worth asking. Is it the reason? I don't know. I think there's a lot of potential reasons. A lot of shifting linemates because of injuries. The power play's not been good and that's a chicken or the egg: if he scores more, the power play's better and vice versa," Cotsonika said.
Cotsonika has Marc-Andre Fleury as an honorable mention for the Vezina Trophy in his mid-season awards.
"He had a heck of a first half. His numbers are the best of his career in terms of save percentage. He's calmer in the net, he's more technical now, he's really grown. If he keeps it up, the Penguins will be much better off for it," Cotsonika said.
Pompeani asked about the possibility of trading for Jaromir Jagr as a rental player.
"He's still got the ability to protect the puck, he's strong on his skates, and he's still got skill and smarts. I'd just love to see it because I'd think it would be really fun to see him back in Pittsburgh," Cotsonika said.
