Cooling Centers Open As Temperature Rise
Temperatures will be in the 90s for the next couple of days and there are some cooling centers open in the area to assist the elderly.
Here's a list of some cooling centers that will be open this week:
Homewood Healthy Active Living Community Center
7321 Frankstown Avenue
Open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. through Thursday, June 21
Greenfield Senior Center
745 Greenfield Avenue
Open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. through Thursday, June 21
Mt. Washington Senior Center
122 Virginia Avenue
Open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. through Thursday, June 21
Sheraden Senior Center
720 Sherwood Avenue
Open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. through Thursday, June 21
Carnegie Municipal Building Council Chambers
Will be open for the next several days from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Allegheny County announced Wednesday that they have opened 11 cooling centers throughout the county, including in Pittsburgh, McKeesport, Sharpsburg, Tarentum and Penn Hills. They are also increasing 911 staffing as a precaution.
