Convicted Sex Offender To Stand Trial In Alleged Rape Of Teen Girl

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) -- A convicted sex offender, arrested on charges in the alleged raped of a 15-year-old girl, will stand trial.

Police say the man is accused of luring the girl to his home by saying he needed a babysitter for his daughter.

Todd Vocature, 52, is facing nearly a dozen charges in the case, including rape, indecent assault and corruption of minors.

Police say Vocature is accused of sending the 15-year-old girl a text message in August asking her to come to his home on South Jefferson Street in New Castle to babysit.

When the girl arrived, the child was not there.

According to investigators, Vocature is accused of telling the girl he had a "belated birthday present" for her in his bedroom.

Authorities say that's allegedly where the girl's hands were bound, her mouth covered with duct tape and she was sexually assaulted.

During a preliminary hearing on Thursday, the victim's relatives could not hold back their rage.

"He deserves everything he gets out of this," said one family member. "He's a predator and he deserves to be in jail, bottom line."

"I can't even look at him," added another relative. "What he did to her was just disgraceful. The way he tricked her and tricked the family, and you know, everybody else is just disgusting."

U.S. Marshals arrested Vocature in Ohio in mid-September after he checked into a mental health facility.

Vocature is listed as a "lifetime offender" under Megan's Law. He was convicted of aggravated indecent assault in 2003.
