Construction Continues At McCandless Crossing Development
McCANDLESS (KDKA) -- Transformed from woodland to readied development site, the McCandless Crossing infrastructure is going in and a singular wall has risen from dirt.
"What you're seeing right now is Dick's Sporting Goods and the HomeGoods, there common wall; and on the other side of the street, Cinemark going up," said Wes Patterson, of Adventure Development.
The three anchors will hold down the back of the project while months of negotiations have settled on the grocery that will anchor the center.
"We are pleased to announce we will have the first Trader Joe's in the North Hills, and that grocery will be open sometime next summer," said Patterson.
By then, Patterson says Dick's should have a couple months of business under its belt.
"Hopefully, we're intending for them to open in April of next year," he said. "HomeGoods and the theatre will probably follow in the next month to two months."
The anchors are expected to be the big draws, and once they are operating the area around the town square will start seeing about a half dozen restaurants open relatively quickly.
Places for the folks to go who are on the waiting list for the townhouses along the Cumberland side of the project. Patterson says they will "probably be moving in spring, summer of next year."
The grand opening calendar goes something like this, most of the restaurants and stores close to McKnight Road will open mid-summer through September and October.
But the first openings will come with Dick's opening April and HomeGoods and Cinemark shortly thereafter. All of it though is weather dependent, of course.
