Connellsville Man Killed After Pickup Hits Dump Truck In Dunbar Township
DUNBAR TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A Connellsville man is dead following an accident between a pickup truck and a dump truck in Fayette County early Sunday.
Authorities say the crash happened around 6:45 a.m. on Route 119 near Oglevee Lane in Dunbar Township.
State police have identified the victim as 27-year-old Matthew McLaughlin of Connellsville.
According to state police, McLaughlin was heading south on Route 119 when the Ford F150 he was in struck the right side of a dump truck.
State police say the dump truck was pulling out and attempting to cross the southbound lanes after stopping for a stop sign when the crash happened.
Both vehicles ended up on their sides as a result of the crash.
The driver and passenger in the pickup truck were not injured in the crash, state police said.
According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Fayette County Coroner reported that McLaughlin died of head injuries and multiple fractures to the arms and legs.
