Concussion Specialist Discusses Road to Recovery for Sidney Crosby
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ImPACT Applications Mark R. Lovell, PH.D. FACPN joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93.7 The FAN to talk about Sidney Crosby and the possible obstacles he may face while trying to come back from his latest concussion symptoms.
Dr. Lovell has worked with a wide variety of groups and organizations including both the NFL and NHL, and gave us his thoughts on why it seems as though football players tend to come back from concussions quicker than hockey players.
We also discussed the recovery process for Crosby and players like him who suffered concussions and need to worry about their future outside of the arena as well as in it.
One thing that younger athletes who suffer concussions need to worry about is "Second Impact Syndrome," something that has ended lives of younger athletes.
