Company May Be Interested In Obtaining Drilling Rights At Local Park
MURRYSVILLE (KDKA) -- Murrysville officials say they have not been contacted by a drilling company regarding the Marcellus Shale drilling rights on land at the community park.
Monroeville-based drilling company Huntley and Huntley is reportedly interested in obtaining the drilling rights.
They recently purchased the rights on 93-acres of adjacent land.
Murrysville law requires a public process be followed when deciding if those rights are given.
They say even if drilling were to occur years down the road, it is likely park-goers would not notice a difference.
The drilling would be done horizontally and no equipment would be put on park land.
Huntley and Huntley did not return KDKA's call or email requesting an interview for this story.
