Community Remembers Young Victims Of Connellsville Crash
CONNELLSVILLE (KDKA) -- A Fayette County community came together Sunday evening as they try to cope with the loss of two teenage girls who died in an accident late last week.
Frigid temperatures didn't stop the friends and relatives of Dawnielle Victor and Tayler Darrell from gathering to remember the lives that were taken too soon.
The accident happened Friday on Breakneck Road in Connellsville.
Victor, 12, of South Connellsville, was pronounced dead after the crash. Her friend, 14-year-old Tayler Darrell, died on Saturday from the injuries she sustained in the accident.
According to State Police, Victor's mother was driving southbound on the snow-covered road when the car went out of control and crashed head-on into a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction.
Victor's mother and brother both attended the vigil at the South Connellsville Volunteer Fire Department Sunday evening.
Those in attendance lit candles in memory of the two little girls.
"I want to thank everybody for coming out for my Dawnielle and Tayler Darrell," Erica Victor, Dawnielle's mother, said. "They were two special little girls and we don't want to forget either one of them. Keep them in your hearts, they were amazing little girls and there will never be others like them, ever."
The investigation continues into the crash.
