Community Prays For Miracle For 6-Year-Old Girl Shot In Knoxville
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A miracle is what the community at Lighthouse Cathedral is asking God.
They hope little 6-year-old Isis Allen will wake up from her hospital bed and go on to live a happy, healthy life.
"I've watched God do it. In fact, we had a lady die right here in this church and we watched God raise her up and we know there's nothing impossible with him," Pastor Maurice Trent, with Lighthouse Cathedral, said.
Several people attended Tuesday night's prayer vigil and many stood before the community to ask God to heal little Isis, pray for her shooter and the world that we live in.
Isis remains hospitalized after being shot in the head on Zara Street in Knoxville Sunday night.
She was walking with an adult babysitter when she got shot.
Police say Kamau Thomas Jr., 19, was the gunman. He told police he fired his gun in the air after a man in a crowd nearby threatened him.
"It's a shame that we have to say wrong place at the wrong time, 'cause a little 6-year-old girl should be able to play on her porch and be safe at any time," Trent said.
"We need fathers to raise up their children properly and instill morals and values. We need community support. Everybody to take a hands-on role to change this in our community," Terrell Thomas, with South Pittsburgh Coalition for Peace, said.

Lataya Rutledge can't even imagine what Isis' parents are going through. She has a 3-year-old son and fears for his safety as well.
"I do fear my son going outside. My son doesn't do much unless he's with me because of those reasons," Rutledge, of the North Side, said.
Isis' family has made the decision to take her off life support on Wednesday. She's been at Children's Hospital since Sunday night.
