Co-Defendant Continues Testimony In Daugherty Case
GREENSBURG (KDKA) -- Testimony continued today in the trial of a teenager accused in connection with the murder of a Greensburg woman last year.
Angela Marinucci is facing first-degree murder charges in the death of 30-year-old Jennifer Daugherty.
Co-defendant Amber Meidinger, who is not on trial, returned to the stand for more cross examination. She again broke down into tears and asked for a moment to compose herself.
She testified that she wasn't honest with police when she was initially arrested because she was trying to get herself and fiancé Melvin Knight out of trouble. Now, she says she is telling the whole truth because "it's the least [she] can do."
She says she can't bring Daugherty back, but wants to tell what happened.
Meidinger is awaiting trial on first degree murder charges in the case and could face the death penalty if convicted. She told jurors she was testifying against the advice of her attorneys. Her attorneys listened to her testimony in the courtroom with stern faces, but did not react as she spoke.
Marinucci was composed today as she listened from the counsel table.
Court adjourned early on Friday after a storm caused a fire alarm to go off at the courthouse. Testimony will resume on Monday with the next witness for the prosecution.
