Clark Talks About Mendenhall's Tweets
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Steelers' Safety Ryan Clark called in for his weekly appearance Tuesday on The Fan Morning Show.
Ryan discussed Rashard Mendenhall's infamous tweets and social media.
"It was tough for me to see him get the scrutiny and misunderstanding that sometimes you say things that people feel certain ways about them, everybody is entitled to their opinion. Just as he was able to tweet that, everybody can also comment on it if they want. I think that's what you have to understand before you put those things out there into the Twitter world, into the social networking world," Clark said.
The controversial tweet talked about celebrating the death of Osama bin Laden:
"What kind of person celebrates death? It's amazing how people hate a man they never even heard speak. We've only heard one side."
Clark said he understands what Mendenhall was saying, but thinks it was bad timing on his part.
"I personally understand what he was trying to say about celebrating a death. It is an eerie feeling," Clark said.
"But you have to also realize what a big victory it was for America, what a big victory it was for the families who still mourn losses from 9/11. I just think it was extremely bad timing, but I know Rashard and I know he didn't mean any harm and I was glad he was able to come back and apologize," Clark said.
