City To Open Cooling Centers For Seniors

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- With temperatures soaring into the upper 80s and possibly above this weekend, officials in the City of Pittsburgh are opening community cooling centers over the long holiday weekend.

Officials say both the Homewood and Lawrenceville Healthy Active Living Community Centers will be opened to seniors trying to beat the heat.

There will be refreshments, activities, Internet access and more.

The Homewood Healthy Active Living Community Center on Frankstown Avenue will open Saturday, Sunday and Monday, from 11 a.m. 7 p.m.

The Lawrenceville Healthy Active Living Community Center on Butler Street will be open Monday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
